ISA 95.00.01-2000 'Enterprise-Control System Integration , ISO/IEC JWG15

ISA-95.00.01-2000 , titled 'Enterprise-Control System Integration' is a multi-part set of proposed standards which has been developed with support of a large industry consortium:

Part 1: 'Enterprise-Control System Integration', Models and Terminology (ISA-95.00.01-2000)
Part 2: 'Enterprise-Control System Integration', Object Model Attributes (ISA-95.00.02-2000)
Part 3: 'Enterprise-Control System Integration', Infrastructures, tbd

Part 1 of this standard defines the interfaces between enterprise activities and control activities. This committee draft is at the level of a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) and has already passed a ballot in IEC and ISO. Part 1 will follow the fast track procedure of standard development into an international standard (IS). Part 2 and Part 3 are today at a lower level of maturity, they are addressing numerous object models of the constructs , their attributes and the concepts identified in Part 1.

 This Part 1 standard provides standard models and terminology for defining the interfaces between an enterprise's business systems and its manufacturing control systems, derived from the Purdue reference model. The models and terminology defined in this standard: 1) emphasise good integration practices of control systems with enterprise systems during the entire life cycle of the systems; 2) can be used to improve existing integration capabilities of manufacturing control systems with enterprise systems; and 3) can be applied regardless of the degree of automation.

The interfaces considered are the interfaces between levels 4 (Business planning and logistics) and 3 (Manufacturing Operations and Control) of the hierarchical model defined by this standard. The goal is to reduce the risk, cost, and errors associated with implementing these interfaces. The standard may be used to reduce the effort associated with implementing new product offerings. The goal is to have enterprise systems and control systems that inter-operate and easily integrate.

Part 1 makes normative reference to several ISA, ISO and CEN standards, among them ENV 40003 CIM Systems Architecture - Framework for Enterprise Modelling and ENV 12204 CIM Systems Architecture - Constructs for Enterprise Modelling.
